Unavoidable reinstallation
« on: April 26, 2009, 04:53:00 PM »
I was hoping to hold off until Windows 7 was released but I can't stand the random issues I'm having with this bum installation of Vista 64bit Ultimate.  Oddities such as windows opening up on random monitors, or minimized or not opening at all.
Outlook 2007 CONSTANTLY has issues with the data file being corrupted... a different issue but still annoying as all get out.
A partition re-arrangement is also in order.

I'll be down for a day as I do this.. wish me luck.

There is a fix for it.
What is causing the issue is Outlook unable to close itself.  Rather than open it, use it and then close it... leave it open all the time.
Let windows shutdown close it and everything will be fine, but being that it's a Microsoft application on a Microsoft Operating System I think it's totally ridiculous.

Here is the only schedule I have for the release information.

    * Current Build: 6.1.6954 pre Beta 1
    * End December: new build 69xx Public Beta
    * Summer 2009: a pre-release candidate build
    * Last Quarter 2009: Release Candidates
    * End 2009: RTM release
    * December: Windows 7 Final

Vista user's with a full retail copy are supposed to be able to upgrade to 7 for free.  My roommate uses 7 already in beta...it works well...I have my beta copy, but my current Vista install on a raid 0 raptor config is running too well to make me want to reinstall atm...
